ABSTRACT
Introduction: The purpose of the current case is to give a detail description on an incidence of a traumatized upper left central incisor with symptomatic periapical periodontitis which was root treated. Descriptions: The apical portion of the tooth had a large apical lesion with external root resorption that end up with an open apex due to the loss of tooth cementum, dentine and adjacent hard tissue. The tooth was endodontically retreated, and the apical region was treated surgically with apical curettage and retrograde Mineral Trioxide Aggregate filling (MTA). Result(s): The affected tooth was considered successful both functionally and aesthetically during a 12-month follow-up. Conclusion(s): Apicoectomy and retrograde filling with MTA is a viable option in case of treating traumatized tooth with large peri-apical lesion and open apex.Copyright © 2023 Japan University of Health Sciences & Japan International Cultural Exchange Foundation.
ABSTRACT
Objective: Vaccination is an effective strategy to reduce the burden of COVID-19. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of acceptance rate towards COVID-19 vaccine among Malaysians. Methods: An online questionnaire was distributed to 599 respondents via convenience method among Malaysians aged 18 years and above. Results: Out of 599, acceptance rate was 89.2% with majority of the respondents were female (68.4%), aged between 20 to 29 and 30 to 39 years (30.2%), married (57.4%), Muslim (61.1%), Selangor residence (34.3%), bachelor's holder (63.3%), nonhealth worker (53.1%), and healthy individuals (59.9%). The most likely reason for refusal of taking COVID-19 vaccine was due to the long-term effect of vaccine (49.6%), gender (p = 0.017) and occupation (p = 0.038) of the respondents were found to be significantly associated with the likelihood of taking the COVID-19 vaccine. Discussion: Despite the high acceptance rate, it is still vital to address concerns among the vaccine's sceptics by establishing faith in the vaccine's safety and effectiveness through proper vaccine information. Conclusion: The findings showed that Malaysians have a high level of acceptance for the COVID-19 vaccine.
ABSTRACT
Dental education around the world were being affected by the pandemic COVID-19. Patients could not come to received treatment and students could not performed dental clinical practical due to lockdown implementation. To overcome this, an online orthodontic screening for examination and diagnosis was developed to help dental students to practice and perform assessment on patients. The objective of this study was to assess the possibility of using online orthodontics screening as an alternative way to physical classes and orthodontic clinics. This cross-sectional study was conducted on clinical years dental students. A total of seventy subjects participated in this study. All subjects were required to assess orthodontic patient extra-oral and intra-oral attributes base on the online orthodontic screening. The result shows that all subjects could identify correctly extra-oral features such as assessment of the skeletal pattern and soft tissue. While mixed result was noted on intra-oral characteristics such as teeth condition, teeth in occlusion and lower upper arches. As a conclusion, the implementation of orthodontic screening thru online method can be utilized as a feasible alternative in comparison to the traditional clinical setting. © 2022,Journal of International Dental and Medical Research.
